You enter lap times on the Lap times screen of a session. You type each time on the number pad, one lap after another. Lap times are part of the free app and do not need Kartnote Pro.

Open the lap times screen

  1. To start a new session, go to the Sessions tab and tap + at the top right (or Add Session if you have no sessions yet). To change an existing session, open it and tap the pencil button at the top right.
  2. Choose a Track if none is selected. Lap times stays greyed out until the session has a track.
  3. Tap Lap times.

Type a lap time

The entry card at the bottom of the screen shows 0:00.000 (minutes, seconds, thousandths). It is labelled with the next lap number, such as L1.

  1. Tap the card to open the number pad.
  2. Type the digits from left to right. You don't type the colon or the dot. For 1:02.345, type 1 0 2 3 4 5. For 58.312, start with a zero: 0 5 8 3 1 2.
  3. Tap Add. The lap appears in the list, the card clears, and the keyboard stays open for the next lap.
  4. When you have finished, tap the checkmark at the top right to close the keyboard.

Any digits you don't type count as zeros, so 1 2 adds 1:20.000. The delete key removes the last digit you typed. If a digit can't go in that place, such as a 6 in the tens of seconds, the field shakes and ignores it. Times can go up to 9:59.999. You can also paste a time, such as 42.315.

When there are two or more laps, the fastest is green and marked FASTEST.

Correct or delete a lap

To change a time:

  1. Tap the lap. If the keyboard is open, the first tap only closes it, so tap the lap again.
  2. On the Lap N screen, tap the time. It already shows the old time.
  3. Press the delete key until the old digits are gone. You can't type over them.
  4. Type the new time.
  5. Tap the checkmark at the top right.

If the track has sectors, you can also change Sector times on this screen in the same way: delete the old digits first, then type the new ones. Leave a sector at 0:00.000 to record no time for it.

To delete a lap: swipe the lap to the left and tap the red trash button. Or open the lap, tap Delete lap, and confirm. The laps after it move up one number.

Change the order of laps

  1. Tap the up-and-down arrows button at the top right. You need at least two laps. While you reorder, the entry card is hidden.
  2. Drag each lap by its handle to its new position. The laps are renumbered to match.
  3. Tap the checkmark at the top right to finish.

"Add this lap before continuing?"

You see this message when you have typed a time but not tapped Add, and then you go back or tap a lap. Choose:

  • Add lap and continue to add the lap you typed.
  • Discard entry to clear what you typed.
  • Keep editing to stay on the screen.

If the time is all zeros, the message says This lap time has not been added, and only Discard entry and Keep editing appear. If the session already has 100 laps, only Discard entry and Keep editing appear. While there is unadded text in the card, you can't swipe back from the edge of the screen. Use the back button.

How many laps?

A session can have up to 100 laps. When a session has 100 laps, Add is greyed out and the card says "A session can contain up to 100 laps".

Saving your changes

Your lap changes are not saved straight away. Go back to the session and tap the checkmark at the top right to save everything. If you tap the X instead, the app asks Discard changes?. Discarding removes all your edits, including new, changed, deleted and reordered laps.
