A session is one run on track, such as a practice or a final. You log it on the Add session screen. The only thing you must choose there is the track.
Add a session
- Tap the Sessions tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the + button at the top right. If you have no sessions yet, you can tap Add Session in the middle of the screen instead.
- Next to Type, tap the current type and choose one: Practice, Qualifying, Heat, Pre-Final, Final or Race. New sessions start as Practice.
- Next to Date, check the date and change it if you need to.
- Tap Track and choose your track. If you have no tracks yet, this opens a screen where you can add one.
- Fill in any other sections you want. See "What each section is for" below.
- Tap the ✓ (checkmark) button at the top right to save.
If your fastest lap is your best so far at this track in this class, including your first timed session there, a New Personal Best! message shows the time. Tap OK to close it.
Why can't I save?
The ✓ button stays greyed out until you choose a track. The text under the Session section reminds you of this. If you have only one track, Kartnote selects it for you.
Lap times and the three Setup rows also stay unavailable until you choose a track.
What each section is for
- Session: the type, date, track, Lap times and Weather conditions. When you have laps, the Lap times row shows how many there are.
- Equipment: the Kart, Class and Engine you used. Kartnote fills in the kart from your most recent session. You can change it. If you have no karts, classes or engines yet, tapping the row lets you add one.
- Setup: Chassis setup, Tires setup and Engine setup. When you add a new session, Kartnote can fill these in from your last session at the same track. This needs Kartnote Pro. To switch it on or off, go to Settings > Session setup > Auto-fill previous setup. It never overwrites setup values you have typed yourself.
- Session goal: what you wanted to work on in this run.
- Handling balance: tap Understeer, Balanced or Oversteer to record how the kart felt.
- Driver feedback: how the kart felt in the driver's words.
- Notes: anything else, such as how the track changed during the day.
Edit or delete a session
- On the Sessions tab, tap the track and date.
- Tap the session to open it.
- Tap the edit button (a square with a pencil) at the top right. The Edit session screen opens.
- Make your changes and tap ✓ to save.
To delete the session, scroll to the bottom of Edit session and tap Delete session. Then tap Delete session again to confirm. This permanently deletes the session and all its lap times. You cannot undo it.
If you close without saving
The close button is the ✕ at the top left. If you have made changes, Kartnote asks Discard changes? first.
- Tap Discard changes to close and lose your edits.
- Tap Cancel to go back and keep editing.
If you made no changes, the screen closes straight away.
